The Kiama electorate is my home, and there is something really special about the place we live in.
I’m proud of our community and the strong sense of connection that defines it.
The Wodi Wodi, Jerrinja, Yuin and Wandi Wandi Peoples have lived here for tens of thousands of years. In the Dharawal language, Kiama is derived from the word Kiarama, meaning ‘where the sea makes a noise’. This is how the town and the electorate got its name. We pay our respects to the elders of our First Nations both past and present and commit to caring for the land we call home. I recognise my role in progressing reconciliation and in closing the gap.
We share a love for the place we call home. We are a growing community, with many families choosing to build their lives here. That is why I am so passionate about having the best schools and health services, and the Minns Labor Government will continue to focus on local jobs so people can work near or from home.
The electorate takes in the communities of Albion Park, Calderwood, Tullimbar and Albion Park Rail in the North. Jamberoo, Minnamurra, Kiama Downs, Kiama, Gerringong, Gerroa and Foxground in the Centre. It covers the northern part of the Shoalhaven, including Berry, Kangaroo Valley, Shoalhaven Heads, Cambewarra, Badagarang, Bomaderry, North Nowra, West Nowra, South Nowra and ends at Falls Creek.
The electorate is inclusive of Ward A, Shellharbour City Council, the entirety of the Kiama Municipal Council and Ward 1 of Shoalhaven City Council.
